Sophie is a retired medical scientist from Mauritius with strong family ties on the island. She left the island at the age of 18 to study medicine in London, UK. She opted for a career in medical research and spent thirty years in laboratories mainly in Germany – in Heidelberg and Berlin.
After retiring, Sophie started The Mauritius Migrant Series. The stories are about an extended family of migrants from Mauritius. The books Snow Beach, The Island Girl and Sweet Sugar are part of the series. Sophie has two adult children and shares her time between Mauritius and England.
